Interview: Abigail Duhon

(Archived from Sound Of Madness Blog.) Today’s interview marks a first for Sound Of Madness Blog. Our interview with Abigail Duhon is our first actor/actress interview! Abigail is an actress who has starred in films such as I’m Not Ashamed, God’s Not Dead, This Is Our Time, and more. She was a part of the TBN hit show, iShine Knect. Additionally, Abigail is a musician and is releasing a new album on May 26th!

SOM Blog: Could you please introduce yourself to the blog?

abigail-duhonAbigail Duhon: Hi! My name is Abigail Duhon, I am 17 years old, and I am a teen artist and actress!

SOM: You’ve acted in multiple movies and television series, what has been your favorite so far?
AD: Each TV and movie production I’ve done has been incredible. I’ve had a different experience with each one it’s so hard to pick! Every set I’ve been on everyone is like a family and you get to know people really well. One of my favorites was being on set for Camp Cool Kids. It was like summer on set! And I got to work with a lot of kids my age which was a really fun experience.
SOM: What actor or actress inspired you to start acting or inspired your acting career?
AD: Believe it or not, it was really my parents! We had met with iShine and they wanted me to be a part of their TV series for season 5, so my parents encouraged me to start taking acting lessons. But if I had to pick an actor’s work that I admire, it would probably be Johnny Depp. He never plays the same character twice and every time he does, it’s so unique and different. You can’t believe the same actor that was Jack Sparrow, was the Mad Hatter!
SOM: You’re also a musician, so we have some music questions too! Who would be on your dream tour lineup and where would you go?abigail_duhon_ep_cover_2017.jpg
AD: I’ve always wanted to be a part of Winter Jam and all of the amazing artists that are involved in the tour. Because it’s not just about one artist, it’s about each one bringing their own music that glorifies God in a unique way. I’d definitely would love artists like Family Force 5, Lecrae, tobyMac, Skillet, and Newsboys on the tour!
SOM: Where do you see yourself as both an actress and a musician in the next 5 years?
AD: Honestly, wherever God will have me. Whether that’s in movies or music, or even just ministry. Everything I do, I do for God’s glory and to make his name great. I see myself continuing to pursue the plan He has for me, whatever it is! 🙂
SOM: Since you started music and dancing at a young age, what is the most important thing you have learned so far?
AD: The most important thing I’ve learned is to not give up on yourself. When you feel like you can’t do something right or you’re not good enough, you keep working hard at it. And comparing yourselves to others is a big one too. If you love what you do and want it badly enough, it doesn’t matter what everyone else does, only that you’re the best you that you can be.
SOM: If your life was a movie, what would it be called, who would play you, and what would your soundtrack sound like?
AD: If my life was a movie it would probably be called The Rollercoaster Life,  haha! I’d most likely either play myself or have someone who knows me really well do it! Soundtrack would have a lot of EDM/pop music in it.
SOM: If you were stuck on a desert island and could only listen to one album, what album would it be and why?
AD: That’s a hard one, but I’d probably have to say Bethel’s We Will Not Be Shaken album. Even though I love dance-type music, this album has brought me through a lot of tough times in my life and helped me stay close to God. In Over My Head is one of my favorite worship songs.
SOM: If you could work with any actor/actress or musician on a collaboration, who would you pick?
AD: I would love to work with Kygo who is an EDM artist that collaborates with a lot of pop artists. For an actor/actress, I’d love to work with Johnny Depp or like Priscilla Shirer from the War Room!
SOM: What advice would you give to someone trying to start a career in the acting industry?

AD: Be yourself. There’s only one you, and God has given you the talents and connections to pursue the dreams He’s placed inside you. And it’s all in His perfect timing. Don’t give up on yourself or Him. He has a plan for you that’s perfect for you. 🙂
